What employers can do now to stay ahead of workplace law change

It feels like a gazillion things are going on in the employment and IR space right now, and that’s because there are. Many changes brought in by the Fair Work Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022 are still to take effect. A further raft of amendments (including to superannuation and parental leave) is before parliament in the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Protecting Worker Entitlements) Bill 2023. Perhaps most significantly, a third group of changes, including changes to implement a “same job, same pay” measure, changes to the definition of casual employment, labour hire licensing, wage theft and adverse action provisions are currently under Government consultation (see here: 2023 Workplace Reform Consultations - Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, Australian Government (dewr.gov.au)).
